Anmon Falls
暗門滝
A series of three impressive waterfalls located within the Shirakami-Sanchi UNESCO World Heritage site in Aomori Prefecture.
What it is
- A series of three distinct waterfalls located on the Anmon River.
- Part of the Tsugaru Shirakami Prefectural Natural Park within Shirakami-Sanchi.
- The site uses Aqua Village ANMON as its primary tourist base.
- The falls were documented by traveler Sugae Masumi as early as 1796.
What to see
- The first waterfall which drops from a height of forty-two meters.
- The second waterfall standing thirty-seven meters high.
- The third waterfall which has a height of twenty-six meters.
- A two-point-three kilometer walking path leading through the natural park.
- A tunnel excavated near the second waterfall dating back to 1963.

- A one-hour walk is required from the Aqua Village ANMON tourist facility.
