These terms cover reading Japan Gems and applying to have a business listed. Japan Gems is run by fivenine-design ("we"). 日本語はこのページの 後半にあります。
What this site is
Japan Gems describes places in Japan in English for people visiting from abroad. Descriptions are written by us from facts drawn from Japanese sources, chiefly Japanese Wikipedia. Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and are shown with their author and licence.
Accuracy
We try to be accurate, but opening hours, prices, access and whether a place is open at all can change without notice, and our sources can be wrong or out of date. Check with the place itself before you travel. We are not liable for loss or wasted expense arising from relying on what is written here.
If you find something wrong, tell us at [email protected] and we will correct it.
Using what is on the site
Photographs remain under the licence shown beside them — mostly Creative Commons or public domain — and you may reuse them under that licence, not under ours.
The English text we wrote is ours. You may quote short passages with a link back. Please do not copy the site wholesale, or scrape it to rebuild the same listings elsewhere.
Linked sites
We link to official sites and to Google Maps. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content.
If you apply to be listed
- Send only material you have the right to send. If someone else took the photograph, get their permission first.
- By applying, you allow us to publish the material you send on this site and in our app, and to resize, crop, translate and summarise it so that it fits.
- Applying does not oblige us to publish. We decide what to list.
- Tell us if you want the listing stopped, and we will stop publishing it. Copies already downloaded or cached by others are outside our control.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you send us.
At present there is no charge for applying or being listed. If we introduce a charge, we will set out the price and the terms before you commit to anything, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.
Things you must not do
- Interfere with the site or try to overload it
- Collect information from it by automated means beyond ordinary crawling that respects our robots.txt
- Send us material that infringes someone else's rights, or that is unlawful
Suspension and changes
We may change, suspend or stop the site, or any listing, at any time. We will give notice where it is practical to do so.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Japanese law. Disputes will be heard by the district court with jurisdiction over our place of business, as the court of first instance. If you are a consumer, this does not remove protections you have under the law of the country you live in.

本サイトについて
Japan Gems は、日本の観光地を訪日外国人向けに英語で紹介するサイトです。 説明文は、日本語版 Wikipedia などの日本語資料から事実を抽出し、当方が英語で 書き起こしたものです。写真は Wikimedia Commons のもので、撮影者と ライセンスを併記しています。
内容の正確性
正確を期していますが、営業時間・料金・交通手段・営業の有無は予告なく変わり、 出典側の情報が誤っていることもあります。お出かけの前に施設へ直接 ご確認ください。記載を信頼したことにより生じた損害・費用について、 当方は責任を負いません。
誤りを見つけられた場合は [email protected] まで ご連絡ください。訂正します。
掲載内容の利用
写真は、併記されたライセンス（多くは Creative Commons またはパブリック ドメイン）に従います。再利用される場合は本規約ではなく当該ライセンスに 従ってください。
当方が執筆した英文の権利は当方に帰属します。出典リンクを付した短い引用は 差し支えありませんが、サイトの複製や、収集して同種の一覧を別途構築する 行為はご遠慮ください。
掲載をお申し込みいただく場合
- 権利をお持ちの素材のみお送りください。他者が撮影した写真は、事前に 許諾を得てください。
- お申し込みにより、お送りいただいた素材を本サイトおよびアプリに掲載し、 掲載に必要な範囲で寸法調整・切り抜き・翻訳・要約を行うことを許諾いただく ものとします。
- お申し込みは掲載を保証するものではありません。掲載の可否は当方が判断します。
- 掲載の取りやめをご連絡いただいた場合、以後の掲載を停止します。既に第三者に 取得・保存された複製については当方の管理が及びません。
- お送りいただいた内容の正確性については、お申し込み者が責任を負うものとします。
現時点で、お申し込みおよび掲載に費用はかかりません。将来的に有償化する場合は、 料金と条件を事前にお示しします。ご同意なく課金することはありません。
禁止事項
- 本サイトの運営を妨げる行為、過大な負荷をかける行為
- robots.txt に従う通常の巡回を超えた、自動的な情報の収集
- 第三者の権利を侵害する素材、法令に反する素材の送信
変更・中断
当方は、本サイトまたは個別の掲載を、いつでも変更・中断・終了できるものとします。 可能な場合は事前にお知らせします。
準拠法・裁判管轄
本規約は日本法に準拠します。紛争が生じた場合は、当方の所在地を管轄する地方 裁判所を第一審の専属的合意管轄裁判所とします。消費者としてご利用の場合、 お住まいの国の法令により与えられる保護を妨げるものではありません。
