  • A giant cedar tree, Arakawa no Jii Sugi.
  • Designated a National Natural Monument on December 9, 1924.
  • One of the first 11 cedars with this national designation.
  • One of 8 remaining nationally designated cedars.

What to see

  • A cedar tree, approximately 35 meters tall.
  • Trunk circumference at chest height is about 10 meters.
  • Estimated age is over 300 years, possibly 1,000 years.
  • Located within the grounds of Hachiman Shrine.

  • About a 10-minute drive from Takahagi Interchange.
