Chitose Shrine is a historic shrine in Hokkaido, dedicated to two kami, worth visiting for its tranquil atmosphere.
What it is
- Founded in 1803 as Shikotsu Inari Daimyojin.
- Name changed to Chitose Shrine in 1917.
- Dedicated to Toyouke Hime no Okami.
- Also dedicated to Ichikishima Hime no Okami.
What to see
- The main hall, rebuilt in 1975.
- The shrine office, rebuilt in 1993.
- Kamaka Shrine, a subsidiary shrine.
