What it is

  • A circular tumulus in Taishi, Osaka Prefecture.
  • Designated by the Imperial Household Agency as Shinaga-no-haka.
  • It is the tomb of Prince Shotoku.
  • Dates to the late Kofun period, around the late 7th century.

What to see

  • An elliptical mound, 43 meters north-south and 53 meters east-west.
  • The mound has three construction stages.
  • A horizontal stone chamber is the burial facility.
  • Three coffin stands remain inside the stone chamber.
