Hagurosan Jijisugi is a 1,000-year-old cedar, a striking natural monument next to a historic pagoda.
What it is
- A large cedar tree in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture.
- Estimated to be about 1,000 years old.
- Designated a National Natural Monument in 1951.
- Also known as 'Sennen Sugi'.

- Root circumference of 10.5 meters.
- Trunk circumference at eye level is 7.8 meters.
- Approximately 42 meters tall.
- Located next to the National Treasure Five-storied Pagoda.
