What it is

  • It is the 83rd temple of the Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage.
  • It belongs to the Omuro school of Shingon Buddhism.
  • It was founded between 701 and 704 as a Hosso sect temple.
  • Kukai renovated the temple between 806 and 810.

  • The principal image is the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva.
  • Kukai carved a 106 cm statue of Holy Kannon Bodhisattva.
