Mount Okukane

What it is

• A 1,543-meter mountain within the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range.
• Designated as a Special Natural Monument and a Special Place of Scenic Beauty.
• Home to one of the three great Kurobe rock walls.
• Site of a 1938 avalanche that threw a building 600 meters against the rock.

• The west wall measuring 1 kilometer wide and 800 meters high.
