Nōmizo Falls
濃溝の滝
An artificial waterfall flowing through an Edo-period cave, famous for its unique light effects and historical river diversion architecture.
What it is
- An artificial cascade flowing through a cave created by a river diversion.
- Dug during the early Edo period to facilitate rice cultivation.
- Located within the Shimizu Keiryu Park in Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture.
- Also known as Hokushin Myoken-do with the original falls fifty meters downstream.

- A cave containing a rock formation shaped like a turtle.
- The groove dug for a waterwheel that gives the site its name.
- Chiba Prefectural Route 24 which passes directly above the cave structure.
- Three parking lots available for visitors arriving by car.
