What it is

  • A giant ginkgo tree, over 1000 years old.
  • Designated a National Natural Monument since 1934.
  • Locals call it Chichikobu-san.
  • Associated with the grave of Shimojō Castle's lord.

  • A female ginkgo tree, 25 meters tall.
  • Base circumference is about 21 meters.
  • Largest ginkgo tree in Kumamoto Prefecture.

  • Lit up at night from late October to early November.
