- Founded in 725 by Gyoki.
- Maintained in 803 by Kukai.
- An unofficial site of the Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage.

- The principal image is a hidden Shokannon Bosatsu.
- The hidden Buddha is a National Important Cultural Property.
- A 142cm tall wooden standing statue of Shokannon.
- The statue was designated an Important Cultural Property in 1901.
