What it is

  • A Shingon Buddhist temple, founded by Gyoki between 729 and 766.
  • Dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, its principal image.
  • The 32nd Fudasho of the Shikoku 36 Fudo Pilgrimage.
  • Kukai visited and established it as a Shingon dojo.

  • Nio-mon gate with stone Nio statues.
