- Located on a sandbar on the Sea of Okhotsk side.
- Within Lake Saroma, Abashiri Quasi-National Park.
- Wakka means 'place where drinking water is' in Ainu.

- Over 300 species of flowers are visible.
- A road named Ryugu Kaido is on the sandbar.
