Ariyoshi Hie Shrine is a historic site on a shell mound with unique artifacts.
What it is
- Dedicated to the deity Ōnamuchi-no-mikoto.
- Originally named Sannō-sha, renamed Hie Shrine in 1868.
- Formed by merging Koyasu, Dairokuten, and Dosojin shrines in 1910.
What to see
- Shrine stands on a horseshoe-shaped shell mound.
- Shells, pottery, and stone tools are scattered on grounds.
- Four subsidiary shrines: Hachiman-sha, Kasuga-sha, Katori-sha, Yasaka-sha.
- A Dewa Sanzan monument is on the north side.
