Ancient shrine in Matsuyama City, rebuilt multiple times, with a main festival on October 6th.
What it is
- Founded during Empress Jito's reign (686-697).
- Originally called Numito Myojin.
- Enshrines Hondawake-no-mikoto and Okinagatarashihime-no-mikoto.
- Renamed Asahi Hachiman Shrine in 1870.
What to see
- Shrine crest is Hidari Mitsudomoe.
- Current shrine building constructed in 1889.
- Ancient tumulus located behind the main hall.
