Chōkoku-ji
長谷寺
Chōkoku-ji is a historic temple housing important Kannon statues, easily accessible by train.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Chizan-ha Buddhist temple.
- Founded in the early Heian period by Sakanoue Tamuramaro.
- Relocated to its current site in 1625.
- Main image is an Eleven-faced Kannon.

- Current main hall, built in 1705.
- Kannon-do, rebuilt in 1716.
- Three wooden Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva statues.
- One wooden Nyorai seated statue.
- Statues are prefectural tangible cultural properties.
