Chotokuzen-ji Temple
長徳禅寺
Chotokuzen-ji Temple is a historic Rinzai Zen temple with a rebuilt main hall and ancient statues.
What it is
- A Rinzai sect Myoshin-ji school temple.
- Founded in 1583, or possibly 1574.
- Its mountain name is Tentokuzan.
- Dedicated to Shakamunibutsu (Shaka Nyorai).
What to see
- The temple gate, built in 1719.
- The main hall, rebuilt after 1995.
- Wooden statues of Shaka Nyorai, Anan Sonja, and Kasho Sonja.
- The temple crest of Mitsu Aoi (three hollyhocks).
