Donge-in Temple

What it is

• A Rinzai Buddhist nunnery also known by the name Take-no-Gosho.
• Founded in 1385 by Chisen Shotsu as a sub-temple of Tsugen-ji.
• Dedicated to the eleven-faced Kannon as the primary deity.
• Became an independent temple in 1951 after moving to its current site in 1873.
