Eisho-ji
永昌寺
Eisho-ji is a Soto Zen temple housing a unique cultural dance and a rare statue.
What it is
- A Soto Zen temple, founded by Toda Suo-no-kami.
- Gettan Gisen was the founding priest.
- Main deity is Yakushi, the Medicine Buddha.
- Formerly a betto (subsidiary temple) of Akiba Shrine.

- A small statue by Jocho inside the main deity.
- Akiba Sasara Shishimai, a local intangible cultural property.
When to go
- Akiba Sasara Shishimai is held annually on a Saturday near July 15th.
