What it is

  • A Buddhist temple of the Jishū sect.
  • Founded in 1744 by Gojūichidai Ta'a Fuzon.
  • Former site of a hermitage built by Ippen.

  • Graves of many modern performing artists.
  • Grave of Matsuo Bashō, though his remains are not here.
  • Grave of Uemura Bunraku-ken.
