Entokuji is a historic temple in Gifu with ties to the Oda clan and important cultural properties.

What it is

  • A Jodo Shinshu Honganji-ha temple.
  • Founded in 1183 as Hosenji by Jakuen.
  • Associated with the powerful Oda clan.
  • Became Jodo Shinshu and changed its name to Josenbo.

What to see

  • A mound for war dead, created in 1547.
  • The mound is a Gifu City cultural property.
  • Rakuichi-rakuza charters are national Important Cultural Properties.
