Fukushō-ji Temple

What it is

• A temple of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji-ha sect.
• Founded in 1603 by Gensei.
• Gensei was a descendant of Shinran's disciple Sasaki Moritsuna.
• The main temple changed to Nishi Honganji during the 8th abbot Junsei's time.

What to see

• The principal image is an Amitābha Tathāgata statue.
• The Amitābha statue was made in the mid-Edo period.
• Painter Oguri Kanrei is buried here.
