Ganjoji is a historic Jodo-shu Buddhist temple in Kobe, notable for its unique relics.
What it is
- A Jodo-shu Buddhist temple.
- Founded by Gyoki between 729 and 749.
- Originally named Kannonji.
- Renamed Ganjoji by Jurenbo, a disciple of Honen.
What to see
- Jurenbo's pagoda on the temple grounds.
- A gorinto for Taira no Michimori and his wife.
- A personal Buddha of Kozaisho-no-tsubone is enshrined.
- Jurenbo's head is said to be buried here.
