Ganjō-ji Temple

What it is

• A Rinzai Kencho-ji sect temple founded by Chikai Hoin between 770 and 781.
• The site was officially established as a temple from 806 to 810.
• Fujiwara no Hidesato restored the temple during the Tenkyo era.
• Converted from the Tendai sect to Rinzai during the 1380s under Koten Zenji.

• The grave of Sano Genzaemon Tsuneyo is located on the temple grounds.
