What it is

  • Soto Zen Buddhist temple, founded in 1539.
  • Commonly known as Orokubu-sama.
  • Unofficial temple of the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage.

What to see

  • Small hall enshrines Orokubu-san.
  • Main deity is Shaka Nyorai.
  • Well on grounds is Chikai no Izumi (Spring of Oath).
  • Monument called Hotaruzuka (Firefly Mound).

Getting there

  • Located in Dogo, Matsuyama City.
  • About 100m east of Yuzuki Castle.
