What it is

  • Founded in 827, originally a Shingon sect temple.
  • Became Jodo Shinshu in 1448, belongs to Shinshu Otani sect.
  • A central temple of Jodo Shinshu in Northern Ise.
  • Former site of Rennyo.

  • Current main hall rebuilt in 1745.
