Hakusan Shrine
白山神社
Hakusan Shrine is a historic site in Kitakami, dedicated to two deities, with a long and varied past.
What it is
- Shrine founded in the early Heian period by Sakanoue Tamuramaro.
- Also founded in 1711 by order of the Sendai Domain.
- Enshrines the deities Izanami-no-mikoto and Izanagi-no-mikoto.
- Served as the tutelary deity of the Waga clan.

- 8-minute drive from Kitakami-Kanegasaki IC.
- Accessible by Iwate Kotsu bus from Kitakami Station.
