Henjō-in Temple
遍照院
Henjō-in Temple is a historic pilgrimage site with a beautiful pagoda and ancient statues.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Omuro-ha Buddhist temple.
- Founded in 985 by Chiku Shonin.
- Main deity is the Eleven-faced Kannon.
- A stop on two Kannon pilgrimages.
What to see
- A three-storied pagoda built in 1416.
- Wooden standing statue of Sho Kannon from late Heian period.
