Hirayu Shrine
平湯神社
A small, historic shrine in a hot spring village, easily accessible from the bus terminal.
What it is
- A shrine in Hirayu Onsen, Takayama City.
- Dedicated to Amaterasu Sumi Okami and Hoomusubi no Mikoto.
- Also enshrines Takehaya Susanoo no Mikoto and Ukanomitama no Okami.
- Re-established and renamed Hirayu Shrine in 1980.
When to go
- Annual festival is held on October 1st.
