What it is
- Established in 1868 as Mizukusa Shrine.
- Renamed Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine in 1941.
- Enshrines approximately 92,000 war dead.
- Located within Hiroshima Central Park.
What to see
- The great torii survived the atomic bomb.
- The current main shrine was built in 1993.
When to go
- Most New Year's visitors in the Chugoku region.
- Over 500,000 visit for Hatsumode from January 1st to 7th.
