Hōju-in Temple
宝寿院
Hōju-in Temple is a historic Shingon temple with a notable vermilion gate, founded in 1394.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Buzan-ha sect temple.
- Founded in 1394 by Kenchō.
- Established as a prayer temple for the Chiba clan.
- Main temple became Hase-dera in 1939.

- The temple gate, called "Yakuimon."
- Gate built between 1861 and 1864.
- Gate painted vermilion for preservation.
- Buddhist statues from Jūōdō.
