Honryū-ji Temple
本立寺
Honryū-ji Temple is a historic Nichiren-shū head temple, rebuilt after disasters, worth visiting for its cultural properties.
What it is
- A head temple of the Nichiren-shū sect.
- Given a fire-prevention mandala by Nichiren in 1261.
- Rebuilt in 1558 and named Honryū-ji.
What to see
- A sutra mound created in 1261.
- A great hall built over the sutra mound in 1506.
- A bronze bell is a cultural property.
