Honzen-ji Temple

Honzen-ji Temple is a historic Buddhist temple with imperial connections and cultural treasures.
What it is
- Head temple of the Hokke-shu Jinmon-ryu sect.
- Founded in 1406 by Nichijin.
- Became an imperial prayer temple for Emperor Go-Nara.
- Relocated to its current site in 1591 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
What to see
- Current main hall, rebuilt in 1852.
- Bell tower with a bell cast in 1606 by Toyotomi Hideyori.
- Graves of the Ishikawa and Okubo clans.
