Hoshi Shrine is an ancient Nagoya shrine with unique deities and historic trees, worth visiting for its festivals.
What it is
- Ancient shrine, possibly Sakaniwa Shrine from Engishiki Jinmyocho.
- Oldest ridge tag dates to 1280.
- Designated a village shrine in 1872.
- Enshrines Oanamuchi no Mikoto, Ame no Kagaseo, Kengyusei, Orihimesei.
What to see
- Several auxiliary shrines on the grounds.
- Three hackberry trees are protected urban landscape trees.
- The largest hackberry tree is about 18 meters tall.
When to go
- Hatsuumata Taisai festival: last Sunday of March.
- Tenno Festival: July 15th.
- Tanabata Festival: August 7th.
