What it is

  • A Jōdo Shinshū Honganji-ha school temple.
  • Founded in 1337 as Kōseiji Temple by Gutoshi.
  • Renamed Hōzō-ji in 1472.
  • Moved to its current location in 1574.

  • The main hall, built in 1727.
  • A Rennyo autograph, a temple treasure.
  • A Shinran Shōnin picture scroll from 1580.
  • Kawase Castle ruins on the temple grounds.
