Ikota Shrine

What it is

• A shrine possibly listed in ancient Engishiki records.
• Dedicated to Takemikazuchi-no-kami and Amenokoyane-no-mikoto.
• Also enshrines Futsunushi-no-kami and Hime-Ōkami.
• Rebuilt in April 1999 after earthquake destruction.

What to see

• The aiden enshrining Ichikishima-hime-no-mikoto.
• Remnants of Ikota Kofun, a keyhole-shaped burial mound.
• The kofun was approximately 92 meters long.
• It is the largest kofun in Amagasaki City.
• The kofun dates to the late 5th century.
