Isahaya Shrine
諫早神社
Isahaya Shrine is an ancient site with significant camphor trees, easily accessible from Isahaya Station.
What it is
- Founded in 728 by Gyoki Bosatsu.
- Originally a Shinto-Buddhist complex named Shimen-gu.
- Enshrines Amaterasu Omikami and Onamuchi Okami.
- Also enshrines four guardian deities of Kyushu.
What to see
- Camphor trees are a Prefectural Natural Monument.
