Jifukuji is a historic Shingon temple founded in the 11th century, worth visiting for its serene grounds.

What it is

  • A Shingon-shu Chizan-ha Buddhist temple.
  • Founded by Keihou during the Kohei era (1058-1065).
  • Enshrined a Yakushi Nyorai statue.
  • Served as a resting place for shoguns visiting Nikko.
