What it is

  • A temple of the Jōdo Shinshū Honganji-ha sect.
  • Founded by Kamakura period samurai Hatakeyama Shigetada.
  • Became Jōdo Shinshū during the Muromachi period.
  • Family temple of William Adams, also known as Miura Anjin.
