Jofuku-ji Temple
常福寺
Jofuku-ji Temple, or Tsubaki-do, is a historic temple with unique statues and haiku monuments.
What it is
- Koyasan Shingon sect temple, commonly called Tsubaki-do.
- Founded in 807 by Houchi Koji, enshrining Jizo Bodhisattva.
- 14th Fudasho of the Shikoku Betsukaku Nijū Reijō.
- 6th Fudasho of the Iyo Rokujizo Reijo.
What to see
- Main hall, rebuilt in 1984.
- Daishi-do, rebuilt in 2005.
- Non-Nuclear Fudo Myoo stone statue, built in 1956.
- Daishi Otsue Tsubaki tree.
- 11 haiku monuments on the grounds.
- Three pairs of Sōtai Dōsojin statues.
