Jōhon-ji Temple
上品寺
Jōhonji is a historic Shingon temple in Tokyo, home to a revered Enma-o image.
What it is
- A Shingi Shingon sect temple.
- The 20th site of the New Shikoku Shikaryo 88 Pilgrimage.
- Restored in 1468 by Son'ei.
- Presumed to have existed in the Muromachi period.
What to see
- The principal image is Amida Nyorai.
- Temple grounds have an Enma-do hall.
- An image of Enma-o is enshrined.
- It was one of the Edo Sixteen Enma.

- A 14-minute walk from Shin-Koiwa Station.
