Jōsen-ji Temple
浄泉寺
Jōsen-ji Temple is a historic site in Toyokawa with a unique monument to executed individuals.
What it is
- A temple of the Jodo-shu Seizan Fukakusa sect.
- Its principal image is Amida Nyorai.
- Contains three designated cultural properties of Toyokawa City.
What to see
- A square pillar stupa for executed people in the cemetery.
- The stupa lists 10 kaimyo of individuals executed 1843-1847.
- All kaimyo on the stupa contain the character for 'sword'.
