What it is

  • A temple of the Otani school of Shinshu Buddhism enshrining Amida Nyorai.
  • Founded in 1296 as a Tendai sect site by the priest Soncho.
  • Converted to Jodo Shinshu in 1504 and features a main hall completed in 1898.

What to see

  • The main hall, kitchen, and drawing room are Registered Tangible Cultural Properties.
  • A mountain gate rebuilt in 2013 after a tornado destroyed the original structure.
  • The bell tower which was reconstructed in 1960 following a typhoon.
  • A black pine on the grounds designated as a famous tree.
