Kaichi Kofun was a large, ancient tomb, now gone, but its artifacts are important.

What it is

  • A keyhole-shaped tomb mound from the late 4th century.
  • It was the largest early Kofun period tomb in Kuwata-gun.
  • Discovered in 1972 during road widening work.

What to see

  • The burial mound no longer exists.
  • Excavated artifacts are National Important Cultural Properties.
  • Nantan City Museum displays a model and artifacts.
  • Artifacts include bronze mirrors, beads, and swords.
