Kaichō-ji Temple
戒長寺
Kaichō-ji Temple offers ancient statues and a towering ginkgo tree, especially vibrant in autumn.
What it is
- A Shingon-Omuro sect Buddhist temple.
- First appeared in literature in 1240.
What to see
- A large ginkgo tree, 30 meters tall.
- The main hall, built in 1864.
- A bell tower gate.
- A bronze bell cast in 1291.
- Wooden statues of Yakushi Nyorai and two attendants.
When to go
- Mid-November to early December for yellow ginkgo leaves.
