Kaiun-ji Temple is a historic Zen temple in Tokyo with ancient statues and cultural properties.
What it is
- A Soto Zen Buddhist temple.
- Originated in 1251 as Tatchu Anzuirin.
- Became independent from Kai-an-ji Temple in 1596.
- Renamed Kaiun-ji in 1661.
What to see
- An eleven-faced Kannon statue from 1251.
- Sen-tai Kōjin statues moved here in 1770.
- Heizo Jizo moved here in 1900.
- Votive plaques are cultural properties.
