Kaji Shrine: a historic site with unique stone lanterns, worth an hour for its cultural artifacts.
What it is
- Established in 1596 by Motohashi Sadakiyo.
- Formerly a Tenmangu shrine, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane.
- Enshrines Takamimusubi no Mikoto and Kamimusubi no Mikoto.
- Became a village shrine in 1872.
What to see
- Current main hall, relocated from another shrine.
- Two pairs of komainu (guardian dogs) on the grounds.
- An old pair of komainu built in 1957.
- Six stone lanterns from 1642 on the stairs.
- Stone lanterns designated as Hanno City crafts.
