What it is

  • Ancient guardian shrine of the Sanno-hara district.
  • Origins date back to the Tenpyo era (729-749).
  • Known as Sanno-gu during the Edo period.
  • Renamed Hie Shrine after the Meiji period.

What to see

  • Main hall, built around the mid-18th century.
  • Bell tower with a bell cast in 1966.
  • Three trees preserved by Isehara City.
  • Stone shrine-type Koshin-to from 1670.
  • Stone lantern-type Koshin-to from 1668.

When to go

  • Grand festival is held annually on April 3rd.
