Kasuga Shrine
春日神社
Ancient shrine in Nagoya, rebuilt after WWII, offers a glimpse into local history and festivals.
What it is
- Founded in 948, formerly Kasuga Daimyojin or Kasuga-sha.
- Dedicated to four deities: Takemikazuchi no Mikoto and others.
- Received reverence from successive Owari Domain lords.
- Buildings destroyed in 1945, rebuilt from 1958.
What to see
- Main hall and other rebuilt shrine buildings.
- Auxiliary shrine called Tenno-sha.
- External Odataneko Shrine, renamed in 1909.

- Autumn Grand Festival on October 19.
