Kasuga Shrine is an ancient guardian shrine with unique architecture and important deities.
What it is
- Originally a guardian shrine for Kairyuo-ji Temple.
- Revered as a tutelary deity.
- Two deities were enshrined in the Kan'en era.
- This is the east shrine, Unatari Shrine is the west.
What to see
- Amenokoyane-no-mikoto enshrined in the center.
- Shirayama-hime-no-mikoto enshrined on the right.
- Izanami-no-mikoto enshrined on the left.
- Main hall is a sangensha nagare-zukuri style.
- Main hall is a former Kasuga Taisha sub-shrine hall.
